New hydro plant to improve energy self-sufficiency in Nueva Vizcaya

Smith Bell Mini-Hydro Corporation (SBMHC), a 70-% Filipino-owned corporation, will construct and operate a mini-hydro energy plant in Solano, Nueva Vizcaya with a total capacity of 1800kW and and project cost of P180M.

Smith Bell Mini-Hydro Corporation (SBMHC), registered its first project with the Board of Investments (BOI) under Republic Act (R.A.) 9513 otherwise known as the Renewable Energy (RE) Act. The Department of Energy (DOE) endorsed this project to the BOI last February 2010.

The project is in line with the national policy of encouraging private sector participation  in  power generation to provide additional capacity as unveiled in the Power Development Plan of the energy sector,” said Trade Secretary and Board of Investments Chairman Jesli A. Middle East buyers interested in dried fruits, tropical juices from RP

Philippine dried fruits and tropical fruit juices received increased inquiries from buyers from the Middle East in the recent Gulfood 2010, Middle East’s leading food fair, reported the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) an attached agency of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

The Middle East, which imports 90% of its food from overseas has long been a market for Philippine food and beverage companies.

“I received inquiries of processed fruits in container loads from buyers not just from the Middle East but from other regions such as Africa,” said Blesilda Ongchuan, Marketing Director of Q-Phil Product International Trading, Inc. This is the second time for Q-Phil to join Gulfood.
