Inspection program nets DOLE 58 more trafficked workers

Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda D. Baldoz yesterday announced that the Department of Labor and Employment has rescued 58 more workers who were illegally recruited, trafficked, placed to an unlicensed recruitment agency, and forced to work in unsafe conditions as a result of its intensified campaign against illegal recruitment, trafficking in persons, and child labor.

This has brought to 64 the number of workers rescued by the Department since August 4, when six workers were rescued by the DOLE regional office No. 9 from a canning factory in Zamboanga City.

The rescue was brought about by the no nonsense implementation by the DOLE of its Labor Enforcement and Action Program, or LEAP, designed to pursue an intensive inspection strategy of establishments nationwide to ensure compliance with core labor standards.

The LEAP is in pursuit of President Aquino’s 22-point agenda on …

Baldoz urges youths, students, fresh graduates

Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda D. Baldoz today encouraged youths, students, and even fresh graduates, to take a closer look at in-demand occupations, and develop the corresponding skills to avail of these job opportunities found in the country’s major and emerging industries.

Baldoz, in giving the encouragement, said that students should take the appropriate, matching courses, or link up with the DOLE’s Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and its training centers nationwide for counseling, guidance, and training.

The labor chief said that this will address the prevailing job-skills mismatch and also provide young people broad opportunities and productive alternatives in the local economy in lieu of brain drain or disadvantageous migration of Filipino workers abroad.

Baldoz emphasized that the DOLE’s Project Jobs Fit has already identified the growing industries or so-called ”Key Employment Generators” in the Philippines in …

Cheap iPhone 4 availble in Singapore!

A Cheap way of obtaining an iPhone 4, i recently saw this in Apple Singapore website. If you convert 1 SGD is equal to around P33 . So a 16GB iphone 4 will only cost around 29,304 pesos while the 32GB will only be around 34, 584 pesos. Which is a lot cheaper compared to the overpriced iphone 4′s being sold in the Philippines.

Although we have to wait for 3 weeks which is not bad.

Also iPad and iPad 3g are available and again a lot cheaper.
