IOS 4 has been released along with the iPhone 4 but unfortunately the new OS is not available for all iPhone versions. Lately while browsing the internet I saw from apple that the iOS 4 Software Update works with the second- and third-generation iPod touch but no all features are compatible with all devices. I own an iPhone 2g will this be available for us? Although there are a bunch of hacks to make it work but an official update for the 2g would be great right.
Here are the new features that would work for the iPod Touch:
Now you can run your favorite third-party apps — and switch between them instantly — without slowing down the performance of the foreground app or draining the battery unnecessarily.2
Organize apps into folders with drag-and-drop simplicity. Get faster access to your favorites and browse and manage up to 2160 apps.
Create and edit custom playlists right on your iPod touch, and sync and display nested playlist folders from iTunes.
More than a great ebook reader, it’s also an amazing place to browse and shop for books, day or night.3
Even Better Mail
See all your messages together in a unified inbox, organize messages by threads, and more.
Home Screen Wallpaper
Change the background wallpaper on your Home screen.
Give your friends apps from the App Store.
Display search suggestions from Google or Yahoo! and view recent searches.
Bluetooth Keyboard Support
Pair a keyboard with Bluetooth wireless technology.
Faces and Places in Photos
View photos based on who’s in them and where they were taken.4
A built-in spell checker works in Mail, Notes, and other apps.
iPod touch can stay connected to Wi-Fi when asleep so you can receive incoming VoIP calls and notifications from compatible third-party apps.
I hope apple also make it official to have an update for the iPhone 2g.
