DOLE LAUNCHES “Kapitbahay Ko, Responsibilidad Ko” project
The Department of Labor and Employment has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with its partners from the Social Security System (SSS) to lend a hand to the street families who are living in the fringes and the surrounding areas of DOLE Intramuros through the “Kapitbahay Ko, Responsibilidad Ko” project.
Secretary Marianito D. Roque said “Kapitbahay Ko, Responsibilidad Ko”, a corporate social responsibility project of DOLE, will also assist Baranggay 657 with livelihood trainings to adult beneficiaries and a three month feeding program to children ages six months to 6 years old.
The CSR project will have two (2) phases and will be conducted in coordination with the DOLE Regional Office-NCR, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) and the Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns (BWSC). The project targets at least 50 individuals, including children as participant/beneficiaries.
In the first phase of the project, the children will be taught proper hygiene, basic computer and bible studies. The children will also be exposed on basic writing and reading through storytelling. The adult beneficiaries will be trained on cooking and baking, cosmetology, basic computer lesson, motorcycle and cellular phone repair and other skills training.
The second phase of the project will be the provision of possible livelihood opportunities to adult beneficiaries.
Teachers/instructors for the children beneficiaries will be volunteer-employees from the DOLE.
The project is in collaboration with DOLE Regional Office NCR, SSS, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and National Nutrition Council (NNC).
Training activities will be conducted at the DOLE Executive Building from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. every Friday.
