Online notification system for exporters available
Exporters and other subscribing stakeholders can now access the World Trade Organization (WTO) Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Notification Alert Service for free at the Department of Trade and Industry-Bureau of Product Standards’ (DTI-BPS) website at www.bps.dti.gov.ph.
The WTO/TBT Alert Service is an online notification system that automatically updates target clients on proposed, new, and revised technical regulations and standards issued by WTO member-countries.
It sends e-mail notifications to subscribers, providing them the latest information on TBT policies and even giving them an opportunity to access, review, and comment on draft regulatory measures, standards, as well as administrative and legal requirements, proposed by WTO member countries before these come into law.
The system intends to help stakeholders better understand and meet standards and technical regulations of the products of their target markets and keep them abreast of changes in foreign regulatory requirements in the international market. More importantly, it enables stakeholders to raise their concerns on the draft regulatory measures/requirements issued by WTO member-countries that may restrict market access and affect trade.
Concerned stakeholders are also advised to be aware of significant changes in trade regulations and actively participate by reviewing and sending comments on draft regulations that would especially affect their businesses so as to manage and keep up with the highly globalized market.
